Family tradition of hotel Neuwarft in Dagebüll/
In the year 1960 Otto Lange was looking for a successor for his bakery situated on the town road leading to the harbour. Kurt and Anna Ketelsen took over the bakery / cake shop and cafe. Back then they only vaguely thought of building up a stately hotel business.
Through the years things got bigger. Next to the cafe a store with commodities was added. The store was eventually taken over by family Hemsen at the end of the 80’s. Over the years Anna Margarethe Ketelsen, affectionally known as Anne by her friends and neighbours became the good soul of the house.
In 1970 Kurt Ketelsen began a new era by offering overnight stays; beginning with 14 beds. Besides vacationers, his guests also included salesmen and other people having business in the region or on the islands. By and by the restaurant business started to
grow. Out of the bakery / cake shop became the hotel and restaurant. Because of the constant growth in tourism it became evident to Kurt Ketelsen that he needed to expand. In 1978 a new building was added with 12 rooms and 28 beds.
Now with 42 beds the end of growth was still not reached. In 1996 the family business was turned over to the son Andreas Ketelsen and his wife Marzena.
What was started by Kurt and Anne Ketelsen will be continued in the best of tradition and for the benefit of the guest. In 1998 a large multi functional hall was added offering space for 120 guests.
In order to meet the demand for more accommodation the number of beds was increased to 130. Constant renewal as weIl as the introduction of a wellness & spa area is rewarded since 2010 by a 3 – star classification. 2012 was another year of renewal and reconstruction. New comfort rooms and a new breakfast area now
complete the hotel.
The adjoining camping site offers short or long term camping fans secure and clean lots with modern comfort.
Since 1996 Andreas and Marzena Ketelsen are responsible for the family business. Hard work, determination and courage to enterprise were fundemental in making this stately hotel so successful.
Traditionally being for the guest stays our motto. We want you to feel weIl.
